Convey Law Join National Apprenticeship Week Scheme

Convey Law Conveyancing Lawyers of Newport is part of a scheme to create a new apprenticeship in conveyancing.

Conveyancing specialists Convey Law are working with a national consortium facilitated by the Council for Licensed Conveyancers and sponsored by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills.

The company, based in Newport, South Wales will help local people of all ages and backgrounds including school leavers and others wanting to “earn as they learn” and build great careers in the legal sector.

Convey Law is taking part in a national group working to develop a new standard for an apprenticeship in conveyancing. The group is being facilitated by the Council for Licensed Conveyancers, a regulator of legal services, as part of a scheme by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) to develop worldclass apprenticeships. The conveyancing group is aiming to develop the new apprenticeship very quickly so that the first learners can start in the autumn of this year.

The government has pledged an additional £40million overall to support participation in Higher Apprenticeships such as this one.

Gareth Richards, Legal Director at Convey Law commented:

“We are investing in the future of the conveyancing profession by supporting the development of a new apprenticeship. We rely on bringing local talent into our firm and apprenticeships are a brilliant start to an interesting and rewarding career in the law either straight out of school or later in life when candidates bring different skills and experience to bear on their work.

Chief Executive of the CLC, Sheila Kumar said:

“We are delighted to be supporting employers of conveyancers as they work to develop a new standard for apprenticeships in conveyancing. We are committed to supporting the development of a diverse profession that delivers the services consumers want to the highest professional standards. So we welcome the government’s commitment to supporting apprenticeships financially as well as sponsoring the development of world-class apprenticeships.”
