In the build up to his 3 Peaks Challenge, Convey Law conveyancer Geraint Aubrey has attended a special training session with professional rugby team, the Newport Gwent Dragons. Geraint is raising funds for Cancer Research UK by undertaking a ‘Wall of Death’ 3 Peaks Challenge in the Alps on the weekend of 23rd August this year.

As part of his training Geraint was invited to attend a training session and run through some drills with the Newport Gwent Dragons and their Strength and Conditioning Coach, Simon Church. The session took place at the new state of the art training facility in Ystrad Mynach where Geraint was taken through a gruelling set of exercises designed to test his fitness before the expedition in August.

On the expedition Geraint will need to tackle 3 peaks in the Swiss Alps, each at over 13,000ft above sea level and all in consecutive days with Geraint sleeping on the mountain before setting out for up to 12 hours of endurance climbing each day. To prepare him for this, the strength and conditioning team at the Dragons designed a gruelling set of physical challenges to prepare Geraint for severity of the climbs.

Geraint hopes to raise over £20,000.00 for Cancer Research UK with his employers, Newport Property Lawyers, Convey Law sponsoring over £8,000.00 already towards the cause.

Simon Church, Strength and Conditioning Assistant at the Dragons commented:

“The challenge that Geraint is undertaking is phenomenal. He will need a large amount of physical endurance to complete it and today’s session will hopefully prepare him for just how tough the climbs will be in August. Geraint has obviously taken his training seriously and gotten himself into a very good condition already, he performed very well this afternoon.”

Kingsley Jones, Head Coach at the Dragons commented:

“Everyone hear at the Dragons would like to wish Geraint the very best of luck. Cancer Research UK is a fantastic cause and we are delighted to be able to help today. We look forward to hearing how Geraint gets on.”

Geraint Aubrey commented:

“I would like to say a huge thank you to Simon, Kingsley and the team at the Dragons. Today was a fantastic experience and I have certainly picked up some useful tips for my training. I would also like to thank Convey Law also for organising this opportunity and for their continued fundraising support.”
