CLC Practice Convey Law To Offer Solicitor Training Contracts

Award-winning CLC conveyancing practice Convey Law has met the training standard requirements of the Solicitors Regulation Authority to provide Solicitor Training Contracts for the first time.

The company has now started recruiting trainee solicitors who have completed their LPC courses.

Convey Law was voted Best Welsh Apprenticeship provider in 2021 at the Welsh Government Apprenticeship Awards for its conveyancer training programme.

The specialist legal practice is currently recruiting five conveyancing trainees a month and has been for the last 18 months, leading to a doubling in size over the period.

Over 70% of the 60-strong conveyancing team have been trained internally over the last 10 years.

The Convey Law Conveyancing Training Protocol enables trainees to become fully effective conveyancers within 12 – 18 months, with continuous training available to qualification as Licensed Conveyancers, CILEX-Regulated conveyancers and now solicitors over the two to three year training programme.

Transparent salary and bonus structures ensure that trainee conveyancers are rewarded financially as they progress, with young conveyancers able to earn up to £30k within the first 12 – 18 months of their time at Convey Law.

Convey Law graduated 30 new conveyancers through the Conveyancing Academy Practising Conveyancer Legal Diploma this year and is currently working with Cilex on their highly practical Level 3 and 6 conveyancing courses to enable conveyancers to qualify as Cilex-Regulated conveyancers.

Commenting on Convey Law’s training programme, Training Principal and Legal Director Laura Burkinshaw commented:

“We are delighted to be able to qualify solicitors for the first time through our well- established conveyancing training programme.

“Our CLC status has been something of a barrier for LPC graduates in the past, with these young professionals naturally wanting to qualify as solicitors.

“Solicitor trainees follow much the same training programme as those who have not completed their LPC courses. Our training programme is very robust and allows our young conveyancers to become highly proficient within a very short space of time.

“We fully fund the academic courses required to qualify as Cilex practitioners or solicitors and we all commit to a training pathway, protocol and contract over a two to three year period to professional qualification.

“During this time the trainees work in a well-structured and audited environment, which is award winning in terms of both its training and how we look after each other. It’s a lovely place to work and a nurturing professional environment for those looking to work hard and commit to a career in law.
