IT Technician

Job Purpose

An exciting opportunity exists to join an award-winning and industry-leading residential conveyancing PropTech company based in Newport, South Wales for a talented and enthusiastic IT Technician in our growing IT team.

You will be given the ability and exposure to new and exciting technologies. You will be able to learn them and more, as the business continues to grow.

Essential Skills:

3+ Years’ Experience Required:

  • Knowledge of cloud technologies, such as Microsoft 365, AWS, Azure.
  • Experience working in an in-house IT environment.
  • Knowledge of Windows Desktop and Servers.
  • Knowledge of Linux systems such as Centos or Ubuntu
  • Knowledge/experience of supporting web-based applications.
  • Knowledge/understanding of networking, IP addresses, subnets, VPNs, and Wi-Fi meshes.
  • Experience with Active Directory and Azure AD.
  • Knowledge of virtual server environments.

General

  • Proven experience working on 1st through to 2nd line support.
  • Excellent problem-solving and resolution abilities covering a range of software, hardware, and network issues.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work hard in a team to achieve tasks and goals.
  • Good time management adopting a flexible approach to work.

Desirable:

  • Experience writing users guides.
  • Exposure to cloud server computing e.g., AWS / Azure.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune)
  • Experience with Cyber Essentials.
  • Recognised qualifications in server / networking technologies / desktop support.
  • Working knowledge of Linux based systems – bash / terminal command toolset

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying and resolving issues reported to the IT Helpdesk, being the first point of contact for issues.
  • Tracking work in progress and recording issues and solutions.
  • Management of all new starters and leaver processes, including running IT inductions.
  • Looking after IT stock, including booking in/out equipment.
  • Writing hints and tips/guides for users.
  • Manage own work allocation, productivity, and quality of work with minimum supervision.
  • Supporting bespoke business applications and systems.
  • Supporting the rollout of new applications including policies, procedures, migrations, and training where applicable.
  • Completing regular audits of department processes.
  • Meeting deadlines for the provision of systems and documentation as required for the business or 3rd
  • Troubleshooting technical problems.

Education & Qualifications:

  • Educated to GCSE or equivalent level in English and Mathematics.
  • Appropriate support or technical knowledge gained through a combination of experience and specialist training. Examples include Cisco CCNA or CompTIA certifications.

  • Excellent customer communication skills including the ability to resolve complaints or escalations.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment and good decision-making when dealing with problems.
  • Able to identify a problem arising and can develop a solution and seek guidance or input before acting.
  • Look for new solutions to problems as well as tried and tested methods.
  • Willing to ask questions, listen to others’ views and accept advice.
