The staff at Convey Law raised money for the Ty Hafan childrens hospice on Friday with a great Six Nations themed party.

Convey Law are not your average Conveyancing provider. They believe that all companies should take an active role in corporate responsibility and this includes using their services to support those that are less fortunate than themselves.

With this in mind, Convey Law have been raising money, not only for local charities but for Cancer Research and the Ty Hafan Childrens Hospice as well. In the last two years alone Convey Law have raised over £70,000 for charity and last Friday was no different.

Most of Convey Law’s employees are Welsh and were recently celebrating the Welsh rugby team’s success in the Six Nations Championship, so it was decided that it was about time for another famous Convey Law staff party, with all the proceeds being donated to Ty Hafan.

Each member of staff donated £10, as an entrance fee for the party and in return Convey Law would donate the refreshments (of which there were many!). Convey Law’s Managing Director, Lloyd Davies also volunteered to transform into a Welsh dragon for the day, but only if members of staff sponsored him. Lloyd raised a total of £282 through the staff’s sponsorship. But it didn’t stop there!

It was then discussed as to whether other members of the Convey Law team would dress up for Charity. Rob Hosier (Sales Manager) and Gareth Richards (Legal Director) were ‘volunteered’ (more like forced) to support Lloyd. The outfits chosen were a Lucky Irish Leprechaun and a Traditional Welsh Lady. Gareth picked the short straw and donned the Welsh Lady costume and between the three of them managed to raise a brilliant £272.93 just from donations from the general public in Newport City Centre!

Over the course of the last 4 months Convey Law have recruited 15 individuals into their environment. The new recruits will form an integral part to Convey Laws Background Teams as well as making an important impact within the Live Conveyancing Teams.

Convey Law currently employ 76 individuals within their environment, making Convey Law one of the largest specialist Conveyancing Companies in the UK.

Convey Law raised a grand total of £6,205.26 for Ty Hafan by supporting the Ty Hafan Midnight Sleep Walks in 2011.

This is the second year that Convey Law has taken part in Midnight Sleep Walks, with the support from Conveys members of staff growing each year. Convey Law were one of the main sponsors of all three Midnight Sleep Walk events taking place this year to raise funds for Ty Hafan.

20 female members of staff took part in the eight mile Midnight Sleep Walk through Cardiff in their pyjamas raising £6,205.26.

Lloyd Davies (CEO), Rob Hosier and Tom Herbert also volunteered as marshals for the event, ensuring all the ladies completed the walk safely.

Well done to all the ladies who took part and thank you for your support of Ty Hafan.

Prizes were given for the best fancy dress outfit and the largest Afro. There was also a ‘Guess the baby picture’ competition, where our members of staff over 40, very kindly allowed their baby photographs to be blown up and viewed by all who attended.

A 70’s themed buffet, cocktails and 70’s disco ensured a fantastic time was had by all.

Former Welsh International and auctioneer Paul Thorburn raised thousands of pounds by auctioning the many sport related items that had kindly been donated to Ty Hafan. Convey won a signed Wales Rugby Union shirt and ball.

Lloyd Davies and guests enjoyed lunch with Mike Powell, of Glamorgan Cricket, who is currently celebrating his benefit year and is an avid fund raiser for Ty Hafan.
